Oh My Fucking God

Happy Birthday, King. I'm sorry I couldn't scan anything for you for your special day. ):

I got my current computer in October 2005, some months before my O Levels. A Dell 9100.

It died on me within 6 months.

And it did it again. 2 breakdowns within a year and a half. My old Compaq computer served me faithfully until its end.

And so, my C Drive is gone again.

Nearly a year of icon collection.
My sis's collection of Phoenix Wright pictures, icons, fanfictions and AMVs.
My folders of Yu-gi-oh BGMs, GSD BGMs, Code Geass OSTs.
My Fathomless Cage Doujinshi [and my stash of hentai and yaoi doujins].
My Ragnarok Online character guides and levelling guides.
My sister's folders of GBA games and their saves.
Tons of Role-Play Applications and Role-play logs, 30% of which were never posted.

And most importantly, ALL MY KINGBROOKLYN STUFF ARE GONE. ESPECIALLY THE LOGS THAT I LOVED SO MUCH FROM THE OLD GENX AND OUR RANDOM RPS. ALL GONE. And I highly doubt I'll be able to get any of them back.

I just don't know what to say now.

Oh, yes, advice.

Lesson for the day: DON'T EVER BUY DELL.

Well, Dell is never good in my opinion, so thats why its cheap.
Its better than you set up your own com, coz you can custom it to your own needs. Its definitely cheaper than those you see on sale, coz you can get parts that are on sale.

If you want high speed, get a dual core. relatively cheap now. xDxD
^_^

May be cheap right now, but I doubt I'll be able to afford it, so I'll have to stick to Dell. I pretty much know nuts about customising also, so I'll just get a full desktop and be content with it. ._.

What brand of coms do you recommend though?

[identity profile] x-evelyn-x.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well....the cheapest would be a minimum of 900 or so, if you're using back your own monitor and other parts.
My friend can help out in customising FOC. xD

Well, If you're looking for a brand new set, maybe can take Acer? Its quite good. If not Compaq? Lenovo is a new one though. Made in China, but parts are mostly by IBM, coz Lenovo bought over IBM. I would prefer Acer. If you want a minimum high speed, get a ram of 512MB. If you like it faster, get 1GB. not very ex though. Don't go for 256MB RAM, coz its totally lags you out. hard disk space wise, better go for 80gb and above. then for discs, find a one with DVD writer. thats the minimum requirement for a good com. I think most acer and compaq shld be offering these. ^_^ Hope this helps! If you need more info, I can get from my friend. He's a computer expert. xD

Opps. Pai Seh. Say wrongly. xD
The ram get dual 2 core. thats the latest. If not just dual core will do. xDxD

*Pats* Maybe it's a sign to move on to something new.

I understand that losing things you worked so hard for sucks. Then again, it's not entirely bad either. Now you'll have space for MORE KingBrooklyn and MORE OSTs, etc. which may be better than your old stuff.

[identity profile] ratiosu.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
My parents have learnt their lesson and are likely not to buy Dell products anymore. However, due to circumstances, I'll be stuck with this poor com for a while. :( Until then, I'll just have to burn my stuffs onto CDs as a form og backup.

On one hand, I doubt that I will be able to get any more better KingBrooklyn, and I don't think there's any way I can get those great logs back either. But then on the other, I've been looking for a chance to clear up my C Drive, and this did do the job [though in a rather cruel way].

Thanks for commenting though. *pats*

And the problem is you're on the wrong side of the world, come to America, we have lots of computers.

We do have computers, the only problem is they cost more than the coms you have there.
