Seeing all these pics of EVA mech makes me want to get one. DDD: I'm sort of partial towards casual!Makinami, for the superficial reason that she's cute ahaha. I don't know how her personality's like. Maybe I could buy the NEWTYPE mag just for her. xD

The Bottle-on Asuka looks really pretty too. There's just too much nice stuff for EVA. *concentrates on gunpla or something*

I admit I'm pretty jealous that the Evangelion fandom gets so much merchandise. I mean, how many Rei and Asuka figures have been released so far? Not to mention all the Unit 01 versions.

Oh and regarding your latest post. Don't worry, you're not a bad friend. I've just met you, but you seem such a nice and caring person that no one could hate. It's not your fault people got into arguments. This is your journal, you post what you want, so you shouldn't be afraid. You didn't tell anyone to start fighting and I'm sure they're mature enough to settle this by themselves.

Sorry to butt in, bud, but it's hard to compare the two. Eva's had 15 years and a million different spin-offs and re-imaginings to justify (mostly) the massive quantities of merch; 00, on the other hand, first aired... two years ago? Or was it a year-and-a-half? I'm not sure, personally. But, if you meant to compare the Gundam franchise as a WHOLE to Eva, then... it has oodles more merch. There have been about 857 quadrillion Gundam series', after all, and even the "bitch" ones (Turn-A Gundam, for example) have been milked for all they're worth. ):

Anyway, I may have expressed it wrong, but GAINAX has, imo, a better way of promoting its series than Sunrise. You get lots and lots of figures as well as kits, Revoltechs, etc. when even the smallest oportunity appears. I mean, there are already two Mari figures and we don't even know what she's like. How many figures has Yoko got, seeing that GL aired two years ago? Sure, Bandai is releasing an incredible amount of kits, but if I wanted to buy a Four figure, for example, I only have two or three choices, and this is from a show that aired twenty years ago and is still very, very popular today. How I wished she had a big figure in her second outfit bawww.

arxilius pretty much summed it all up, and not to forget, EVA was far, far more popular than 00 currently is, plus the second instalment of Rebuild is coming up soon, so I'm really not surprised that they're still releasing so much stuff for EVA. XD

They haven't made any 1/8 figures for the second season yet, have they? There were the Tieria figurines which were on display at the hobby show weeks back, but it's strange that they haven't released anything even for gashapon and the Portrait lines. D: I wonder if it's because the S1 Portrait and gashapon series didn't sell as well as expected so they're not producing them for S2. That would suck a lot. DX

We only have the two Desu figures, and I'd say that's a slow, but good start. Then we have the 27459473 chibi stuff, which, cute as it may be (hell, it is, I'm buying it), is just too much. It looks like they're seriously separating the fanbase, releasing loads of models for the boys and lots of cute figures for the girls. But that's not fair baw. I have a feeling those Tieria figures are actually from a new Portrait series and they used him as a sample because he's the most popular. 00's popularity has kind of dropped lately and not having more figures would suck so much. Although I think the S1 Portrait and gashapon figures were pretty successful, not to mention the big Sumeragi & co. figures which were even rereleased.)

XD"; Maybe Bandai's concentrating on kits instead of figurines since those are easier to sell and make profit. :Oa They do release a lot of kits for new and old series as well as the SD series. I'm not sure ahaha. D: A matter of different marketing and sales strategies?

I like the chibi stuff [and gunpla] too, but I'd like more actual figurines for S2 too. :S And if Tieria is really a sneak peek at how the new Portraits line is going to be like, then I'm really excited. *___* I'm sort of wondering now if they're going to try and do some merch tie-in with the movie next year. Which would be awesome, because think of the possibilities *___*, and at the same time, really bad for our wallets. OTL

Oh god lol, there are 398208 plugsuit Reis, a few transparent ones, summer fashion, winter fashion, loligoth fashion etc. Yeah, Bandai has always been about kits. As you said, it's a different marketing strategy, since Gundam is mainly aimed at boys and boys like building stuff.

I hope those figures are actually going to be part of a new line, lol. For some strange reason, I really want a Hiling figure. But, hm, I kind of doubt they'd link merchandise for the series and the movie. The new Gundams will obviously appear a couple of months in advance, but I think that will be it.
