He nodded for a moment. "If you don't mind."
"Not at all," King murmured, heading to change into a simple maternity dress and pulling a jacket to keep himself warm. Taking his purse and checking the money, he turned to Brooklyn, "Shall we go then?"
His husband was pregnant, and here he was, going back to his captain. The captain that he spent nights on end sleeping with. He sighed slightly as he approached the door. He really had to end this, no matter what happened, especially with what K had done before his life was over.
Garland sighed as he laid on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Everything was really confusing for him. On one hand, he loved Brooklyn and still frequently slept with the other despite his recent marriage. To top that off, the ginger haired blader's husband was expecting their child! On the other hand, he really felt for Kai, enough to say he loved the dual haired blader and wanted the relationship they now had. He growled, throwing an arm over his eyes. He just didn't know what to do.
Brooklyn quietly opened the door, stepping in, his gaze falling on his captain. "Garland..."
Garland removed his arm at the soft call. Sitting up, he smiled. "Brooklyn."
Brooklyn crossed over, sitting down beside him as he smiled gently.
"You shouldn't be here," Garland murmured as he reached out for the other, not wanting in the least to push him away.
"Why not?" he rested calmly against Garland.
"You know why," Garland replied, running his hand through the soft hair.
Brooklyn turned his gaze down at that, resting against Garland. "I've heard."
Garland said nothing as he rested his head upon Brooklyn's, wrapping his arms around the other and holding him close.
Brooklyn leaned back, shutting his eyes for a moment. "I don't know if I can continue this."
"I know," Garland sighed, feeling the same way. He continued to hold the other close, taking in his scent and feel.
"And you're not angry with me?" He turned, his gaze on Garland as he laid back.
"No," the silver-haired blader said softly. "Never."
Brooklyn gazed up at him as he took Garland's hand. "One last time?"
Garland smiled and leaned down, brushing his lips against Brooklyn's. He'd never been able to deny the other.
Brooklyn pulled him close, kissing him deeply. He sighed into his mouth, pressing against him.
Garland brushed his fingertips over a pale cheek before cupping it. The kiss was deep and passionate, but not fierce and rushed.
Brooklyn returned it, his arms wrapped around Garland, kissing him back with matched passion. It had been too long.
Garland moved his other hand up and down Brooklyn's back, memorizing the feel of his love.
He kissed him back in return, his fingers trailing over the tan flesh. He parted his lips, wishing for more from his lover.
Garland's tongue delved between the parted lips, rubbing and twiting against his partner's. He moved his hand down Brooklyn's throat, briefly pausing to tease his chest through the fabric before continuing downward.
He slid his hands up, pulling off Garland's shirt as he pressed against him, his tongue pushing against his lover's. His hand tangled in Garland's long hair, pulling it out of the ponytail.
Garland moaned softly as his hand slipped up under Brooklyn's shirt to toy with the band of his pants.
Brooklyn pressed up into the touch, rubbing against Garland's body as he sucked on the tip of his tongue.
Garland rubbed his hand over the smooth skin of Brooklyn's stomach before teasingly toying with the fastenings of his pants.
He pulled Garland close, kissing him deeply as he pressed against him, his hips grinding against Garland's.
Garland moaned into the kiss, finally managing to undo the other's pants. He smirked mentally, slipping a hand inside.
Brooklyn gasped at the touch, arching up as he moaned, pressing into his hand.
Garland cupped his lover's length, stroking as much as he could in the confinement of the clothing.
He moaned again, pressing firmly against Garland as he reached down, undoing his lover's pants.
Garland shifted, laying back against the bed as his hands worked at separating Brooklyn from his pants.
Brooklyn felt the pants slide off as he removed his jacket and shirt, pressing into the kisses, his fingers brushing over Garland's nipples.
Garland ran his hand greedily over the vast expanse of creamy skin now open to his touch. He groaned as he moved his lips over Brooklyn's jaw and down his throat, pausing to pay extra attention where neck and shoulder connected.
Brooklyn wouldn't do it. It's all just an elaborate lie by K. King told himself for the thousandth time, even as he walked faster towards the room of Garland Seabolt.
He had been utterly shocked by the pictures that K had released on the net, and everywhere, on the news, in the newspapers, the pictures screamed at him again. His husband wouldn't do it. K was just trying to break them apart.
But even as he told himself so, he found himself following Brooklyn out to his Bega training, determined to find out the truth, to find out if those pictures were real after all.
Brooklyn had disappeared into this room. A shudder went through his spine as he grabbed the doorknob of the room. It was conveniently unlocked.
Brooklyn wouldn't do it. It's just a lie. he told himself once more, finally pushing the door open.
His mind went blank at what he saw next, his eyes focused solely on the two naked men wrestling against each other on the bed, one of them the familiar ginger-haired blader who was his husband.
Brooklyn wouldn't do it...he wouldn't...he wouldn't!! all he remembered was the pain as his heart shattered apart at that scene before his eyes.
Brooklyn glanced up, hearing the door open as he let loose a few swear words in his natural language, grabbing his pants. "King-"
The reality had finally sunk in, and the tears had started to flow. King stared at Brooklyn for a moment, the hurt and betrayal showing clearly in his tear-filled eyes. He turned quickly, heading for the exit of the castle.
He didn't want to see Brooklyn ever again.
Brooklyn pulled his pants back on along with his t-shirt, running after King. King had seen them, had seen everything, right when he wanted to end it.
The tears were flowing freely down his cheeks, his vision was blurred and he couldn't see properly where he was going. He didn't even notice that he had passed by Kai Hiwatari along the way towards the exit. King didn't give a damn about anything anymore.
All he felt was the deep sense of disappointment in his husband. He had loved the psychic and trusted him so deeply, and yet this was how Brooklyn repaid all his feelings.
Kai watched as King passed him. "King?" He asked the other but King carried on down the hallway. Kai stood there confused, wondering what had gotten into him.
He had to find King, to explain. He didn't expect forgiveness but at least he could explain.
Finally making it out of the castle, King collapsed to his knees, his tears still flowing down his cheeks. It hurt so much, knowing what Brooklyn had been doing throughout their entire marriage. What did he do to Brooklyn to deserve this? Didn't Brooklyn say he loved him? Then why?
Kai walked to Garland's room, wanting some attention from his lover. He ended up jinking as Brooklyn ran down the hallway. "What the hell is going on?" He said to himself, a bad feeling growing inside as he turned and ran to Garlands room.
Garland scrowled in irritation. Not because they were caught, but because they had not terminated their relationship sooner. King did not deserve to see what he had. He deserved a nice happy life with a doting husband. He stared at the ceiling, not bothering with pulling his clothes back on.
Brooklyn turned, having seen Kai. "Did you see King?"
Kai stopped midrun a little way from Brooklyn. "Yeah, he went that way." Kai said, pointing down the hall, "What's going on?"
"Later," he said as he hurried down the hall in the direction Kai had pointed. He had to try to explain this to King, even if he wanted him dead.
Finally picking himself up, King sighed as he loitered around near his home. He didn't want to go to the park, it reminded him of their first kiss. He didn't want to go back into the castle - and face his unfaithful husband. He didn't want to go back home either, it was just so painful.
He just didn't know what to do now.
He needed to find King, but he had no idea where he could have gone. He ran a hand through his hair, mentally reaching out to find traces of King's mind.
Kai went up to Garlands door. Noticing it was ajar, he knocked on it gently as he entered. "Garland?" he called, his voice a little squeaky.
Garland groaned, not prepared for this. "In a minute," he called out, reaching for his pants.
King stared at the ginger-haired BEGA blader from afar, his eyes still swimming with tears. If he had knew this would happen, he wouldn't have slept with Brooklyn that time. He wouldn't have gone to the park that time. Perhaps Brooklyn did all these just to cheat his feelings. Perhaps Brooklyn really hated him and wished him pain.
He stepped up towards the psychic, wanting to make a proclamation of absolute hate to him, wanting to sever all ties completely with him. But he found himself unable to do so.
Brooklyn gazed at him. "King... let me explain."
"What's there to explain?" King uttered coldly, his red puffy eyes staring directly at him.
"I love you, you have to believe me," he whispered, staring at King. "We were going to end it today."
"Why couldn't you end it before? Why today? Why not before our wedding?"
Kai didn't bother waiting for Garland to let him in, he had a feeling and he needed to know if he was right or not. "Garland? What's going on? I just saw King and Brooklyn running down the hall."
Garland realized he had two options laid out before him. One, tell Kai the truth and hope for the best or two, lie his ass off and hope Kai never finds out. Thinking quickly, the long haired blader chose option number two. "Nothing." he said as evenly as he could muster.
Kai didn't buy that for a second. "Are you sure? Because I'm pretty sure King was crying and you know Brooklyn pretty well.... And they looked like they came from the direction of this room....." He asked, looking at Garland suspiciously. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. He thought to himself as he felt a lump in his throat.
Brooklyn stared at him, taking one step closer to King. "King... I love you."
"You lie!!" King stepped back. "If you do, then why couldn't you leave Garland!! Why did you have to do this to me!! To US!!!"
"Just a lover's tiff," Garland said, tying his hair back. "That's all." He turned to Kai, hoping nothing in his stance or facial expression would give him away.
Kai thought it over. He walked over to Garland and snuggled up to him in a hug before planting a delicate kiss in his lovers lips.
Garland wrapped his arms around the smaller body, holding Kai close as he returned the kiss.
Brooklyn gazed at him. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I love you both."
"Then why? Why couldn't you marry him?" King stared tearfully at him once more, his heart breaking all over again. "Why did you choose me when you could have someone so much better? You did this to spite me, didn't you!?"
"I never said that," Brooklyn reached out to touch him.
King jerked out of Brooklyn's reach, "Then why did you continue to stay with him even after our marriage? If K never exposed the truth, you would continue to lie to me like this, wouldn't you!!!"
Brooklyn turned his gaze down, glancing away. "You're right, given the choice I would chose Garland rather than you, since it's clear you don't want me." He started walking away, his eyes taking on the glazed over, souless look.
King froze up at that, feeling as though his heart had been wrenched and trampled on the ground at hearing the words that came out of Brooklyn's mouth. Brooklyn was confirming that very nightmare he had feared so much. Brooklyn no longer wanted him.
His shoulders shuddered slightly as he sobbed, turning away from his husband as he ran off. He had never felt so cheated before.
Kai huddled up to Garland when he saw some lightning and heard the thunder from outside. "I hope everything is okay." He whispered.
Garland's eyes flickered with worry as he glanced past the glass of the window. "Me too." He whispered, hoping Brooklyn didn't screw up.
Brooklyn doesn't want me.
King hadn't thought it would be possible to survive with this sort of pain.
Brooklyn loves Garland more than me.
King hadn't even noticed that the sky had opened, pouring down on him.
Brooklyn doesn't need me anymore.
He glanced down at his wedding ring, now a symbol of pure pain.
I'm useless.
He closed his eyes, the tear flowing down again.
Brooklyn continued to walk away. He couldn't look at King. He would shatter if he did.
The thunder sounded again and Kai squirmed in Garlands grasp. I hate the thunder he thought to himself. "Hey, Gar?" He asked quietly as he looked up into Garland's ayes, "Can we put the tv on? It might drown out the thunder."
"Oh, uh, sure." Garland replied, noticing the tenseness in Kai's body.
Kai went over to the tv and switched in on. Picking up the remote control, he lead Garland over to the bed and the two of them sat down, snuggling up to one another. Kai flicked through the channels to distract himself from the growing storm outside.
Garland wrapped an arm losely around Kai. He didn't pay attention to the television, instead, his thoughts drifted back to what happened earlier.
Meanwhile Brooklyn stood in silence, his gaze staring straight ahead as the rain poured on him. What did he have now?
King was still hurting badly inside as he finally got up, staring up at the sky for a moment, oblivious to even the baby's kicks inside his body. He only had this baby now, and even then the child would be a sore reminder of his first relationship, which had failed so miserably.
He couldn't continue like this. He must not have thoughts of suicide. Gazing down for a moment, King finally walked on, towards that one place where he could seek solace from. Rei's place.
"Robert has a lot of channels huh?" Kai said as he flicked past a couple of movie channels, an anime channel and a couple of news channels before stopping, the control shaking slightly in his frozen grip. "What the...." He started, an lump forming in his throat.
Garland was too absorbed in his thoughts to pay noticed to the news or Kai.
Kai watched in horror as the news reader was talking about something, pictures of Garland and Brooklyn appearing on the screen.
Finally hiding out in a cafe, King dialled his phone. He blinked away the slight tears, hoping that the nekojin would pick up his phone. "Rei?" King whispered softly.
Rei blinked his eyes open, rolling over as he picked up his phone. "Yeah?"
"Hey," King murmured, his eyes starting to tear up again. "How're you doing?"
"Fine, what's wrong?" He asked, hearing the tone in his voice.
King bit slightly on his lip, sensing that there was no use in lying. He would need to tell the other blader sooner or later anyway.
"It's like this...Brooklyn...he..." King managed to utter before breaking down once more.
"He what? Where are you? I'll come get you," Rei said as he grabbed his jacket.
"No," King replied immediately, wiping away his tears again. "You don't have to."
Tala stepped into the room just in time to see Rei talking frantically into his phone and grabbing his jacket. "What's going on?"
Kai blinked at the tv screen, shaking all over with mixed emotions. "Garland? What are they talking about? Why are they showing those pictures?" He asked, his voice shaking and his eyes unable to turn away from the tv.
"Huh?" Garland oh-so intelligently said, turning to face Kai.
"Why? Why are they.... " Kai stuttered, trying to get the words out.
Garland said nothing as his eyes became glued to the screen, wide and unblinking. "The fuck..." he muttered, not comprehending how or why this was happening.
"Garland? What the fuck is that?!" Kai asked, a hint of panic in his voice. T...This can't be right, it has to be some sort of sick joke. Is.... Was this the reason King and Brooklyn? H... How? Why? He thought to himself as several emotions fled through him.
"I... uh..." He blinked, still wondering who had taken those pics. Was this why King had shown up today? Then more thoughts came to him. How was Kai going to react? How was the world going to react? The whole story was now on world news for crying out loud!
"Garland.... Why?" Kai managed to choke out, facing Garland with tears in his eyes. "What's going on?"
"I don't... it's not... I don't know," Garland managed to stutter out.
Even in the cafe, the TVs were all focused on Brooklyn's extramarital affair. Unable to bear more pain from the reminders any longer, King finally stepped out of the cafe, still sobbing slightly as he finally admitted to Rei, "Brooklyn...had an affair."
"Are the pictures from... Before us? Were you and Brooklyn an item at one time? Or...." Kai asked, holding back the tears.
"At one time," Garland admitted, not willing to say that "one time" ran up to today.
Kai stared into Garlands eyes, penetrating his lovers soul. "Then why was King so upset today? Why did Brooklyn come from the direction of this room? Is there.... Is there something... You're not telling me?" He asked quietly, so quiet it was almost a whisper.
Garland opened and closed his mouth a few times before turning away, unsure of how to answer.
"Garland?" Kai pleaded, "Please tell me. I want to know."
Rei stopped for a moment, "Where are you?"
Finally giving the cafe's name after much effort, King closed his eyes slightly. "I didn't think it would be possible to hurt so much and still survive."
"I'll be right there," he said as he hung up, turning towards Tala. "That was King."
Tala raised an eyebrow, wondering what the hell was going on. As the thunder sounded and lightning flashed, he looked to Rei. "Want a ride?"
Rei bit down on his lip. "I think I better do this alone, King found out something..."
Tala nodded. "Be careful," he said. "That's one hell of a storm out there."
"I will," he whispered, kissing Tala's cheek. "You may want to be out of here, I don't know how he'd take it."
King was close to tears once more, words of Brooklyn's affair from the cafe patrons a sharp cruel stab through his wounded heart. He gazed up for a moment at the rumbling sky, feeling that he might be putting Rei on unnecessary danger by forcing him to come out like this.
Rei parked the car, running into the cafe with a jacket on, the hood pulled over his head. He stepped in, his eyes flickering around as he spotted King.
King was overwhelmed once more as he spotted the nekojin, struggling not to let the tears fall as he gazed at him, the pain still vivid in his eyes.
Jonouchi-Kaiba-Mokie says:
Rei hurried over to his side, pulling King into his arms to try to comfort him.
King cried again, hugging Rei close as he wept sadly.
Rei held him close as he helped King to his feet. "Are you alright to come home with me? Or should we find a hotel?"
"It's ok," King whispered, finally standing up with some difficulty. "I don't want to impose on you."
"You're a friend, I'll do whatever you're most comfortable with," he smiled as he held King's arm to steady him.
King gazed at Rei for a long while. "You don't have to be so kind to me," King murmured softly, glancing back down.
"I don't know," Garland repeated, still too stunned to formulate much more than that.
"What do you mean you don't know?" Kai asked, sounding sad and weak, but something in his eyes was different. They seemed blank. "Please tell me, I don't care how bad it is, I just want to know."
"Kai, I..." Garland turned away, refusing to look at Kai.
"Garland... Please..." Kai whispered as he hugged Garland from behind.
Garland remained silent, hardly feeling the smaller arms wrap around him. This wasn't supposed to happen. It wasn't supposed to be like this. his mind shouted.
Kai tightened his hug. "Garland.... Please.... Tell me." He whispered, fighting back the tears. I know what you might say, but it might not be true. Please just tell me. Tell me that what I'm thinking is not true. He thought as he buried his head into his lovers back.
"I'm sorry," Garland mumbled. "This wasn't supposed to happen."
"Tell me... What wasn't supposed to happen?" Kai needed to hear everything, he needed to know.
"That," Garland said, waving loosely at the TV.
"You were with Brooklyn... But.... for how long?"
"It's ended. It's over." Garland mumbled, the shock slowly disappating.
"How... Long?" Kai asked, gritting his teeth, his grip tightening even more. "Were you with him.... While you were with me?"
