"Be careful with that!!" she screeched as one of the movers fumbled and accidentally dropping the large box. "I don't want anything to happen to it!!"
As the mover quickly recovered and apologised profusedly, she frowned at that, tapping her foot impatiently as the men squeezed into the lift along with the box. This was taking too long!!
She had promised one of her friends that she would be at his doorstep in 3 minutes, but looking at the pace things were going, she could spend half the day just waiting for these slowpokes to move.
She gave an exasperated sigh as she finally squeezed in. As soon as the door opened on her friend's floor, she dashed out, quickly pressing the doorbell.

Brooklyn sighed, wondering what the hell Ming Ming could want. He had finally decided to move out of the BEGA building and now was in his own apartment for the first time.

Jabbing quickly at the doorbell, Ming Ming shouted at the men to be mindful of the large box again. As Brooklyn opened the door, she grinned at him, "How's your new place?"

"Fine," he said calmly, as he gazed at his much shorter teammate.

"That's great then!!" Ming Ming smiled, "Now, you must be wondering why I've come to visit you..."

"Yes," he said, crossing his arms as he calmly regarded Ming Ming.

She moved back at that, standing beside the large box as she placed a hand proudly on it, "I, Ming Ming, have a gift for you!! A most wonderful gift!!"

Brooklyn raised an eyebrow at that. "I have a hard time believing it's so wonderful."

She merely chuckled at that, instructing the men to move it into Brooklyn's room. "You can open it once I leave. Have fun with it!!"

Brooklyn gave her a stern look at that. "Fine," he said, waving dismissively as he turned to leave her.

She gave another high-pitched giggle again, waving goodbye before she left with the movers, leaving the large mysterious gift in Brooklyn's room.

Brooklyn sighed, glancing at it as he finally opened the box as he sat in silence, his gaze on it.

The box was easily removed, exposing a glass cage with a human inside. The naked human was dark-skinned, had silver long hair and was curled up as he lay, obviously asleep.

Brooklyn gave a scowl at that. He had heard of these 'pets' and he hated the idea with a passion. Ming Ming knew this perfectly well. He would dress this man and tell him to leave. It was the decent thing to do. Finally with a sigh Brooklyn opened the cage before getting up. The man would have to wear his clothes for now.

The pet turned over, curling up tighter as his skin was exposed to the cool air, unaware of what his reluctant master was planning as he dozed on.

When Brooklyn returned he noticed that the man was still sleeping. Sighing slightly he place an old pair of pants and a t-shirt down beside him before leaving to start sorting through his boxes that still hadn't been emptied since his move.

It took a long while before the pet eventually awoke, glancing around curiously as he rubbed at his sleepy amethyst eye. A curious thing was that the pet's memory was a pure white blank.

Brooklyn was in the next room over, sorting through the few boxes.

He gazed around at his new surroundings, a soft curious sigh escaping his lips. The shirt and pants caught his attention as he grabbed at them, not knowing what they were for, much less how to wear them.

Brooklyn headed back into the room. "You're awake, get dressed."

The man glanced up at that, his gaze falling on Brooklyn for a long while.Who was this man? What was he saying? The pet could not understand a single word as he glanced back at the clothes, placing them back in a messy pile.

He sighed at that. "I told you to get dressed."

He glanced up at that, unable to tell what Brooklyn wanted as he simply sat there.

Brooklyn sighed at that as he took the clothes, putting them on the pet. "What's your name?"

He raised an eyebrow at that, keeping his gaze on Brooklyn, hardly cooperative as his mind was in a blank over what to do.

"What are you called?" He sighed slightly, wondering what the hell Ming Ming was thinking.

King winced slightly at that, not knowing how to say that he couldn't understand what Brooklyn was trying to say.

He sighed, giving up on trying to get through to the pet, having finally dressed him. He couldn't say he wasn't attracted to this pet.

The man glanced down at the shirt and pants covering his body, looking rather amazed and yet confused. He gazed up at the man again, reaching out and grasping Brooklyn's jacket, feeling a slight sense of gratitude to him.

Brooklyn stared down at him. "What are you doing?"

The pet kept his gaze on him, unfazed by the words he couldn't understand as he gently grasped the soft material of the coat.

Brooklyn groaned at that. Ming Ming was going to pay for this.

The pet managed a slight smile, wanting to be friends with this gentle and helpful man.

The pet moved towards the couch at that, standing next to it as he gazed at Brooklyn, clueless on what to do next.

"Sit," he said again, this time making it an order.

He blinked at that for a moment, trying to remember the oddly familiar word.
Yes, the trainer at the Pet shop had taught him before, using a cane. He moved to the couch, finally sitting down.

Brooklyn sighed at that, at least this man had listened to something he had said.

The pet sat up attentively, alert to everything around him. However, he had a very limited vocabulary, which meant that he couldn't understand all the orders that Brooklyn could throw at him.

Brooklyn looked at the pet for a long moment. Finally he stood up, heading into the kitchen to prepare something.

The pet kept his gaze on the ginger-haired man, realising to his horror that he was moving away. He stood up at that, following Brooklyn into the kitchen, not wanting to be away for even one minute.

Brooklyn almost gave a scowl at that, realizing this man wasn't going to leave him. This was getting tiring.

He reached out to hold Brooklyn's jacket again, truly attracted to this man and hoping that he could stay with Brooklyn.

He mentally sighed at that, feeling the hands clenching in his jacket. It seemed he wasn't going to get this man to leave.

The pet stayed with Brooklyn throughout the day, following him around in the kitchen and out towards the dining room.

Brooklyn finally headed to bed, pulling off his clothes and hoping the man wouldn't follow him here.

Unfortunately for Brooklyn, the pet did try to follow him in. He gazed expectantly at Brooklyn, hoping that Brooklyn would let him follow in as well.

Brooklyn had just pulled off his shirt as he heard the footsteps. Oh damn.

Standing at the door, the pet made a soft confused sound, his eyes focused fully on Brooklyn as his eyes begged to be allowed in.

Brooklyn sighed at that, finally moving to pull a sleep shirt and pants on before patting on the bed.

He perked up at that, happily moving towards the bed and sitting down on it beside his less-than-enthusiastic master.

Brooklyn sighed at that, gazing down at the pet as he laid down.

Copying his master's movements, the pet laid down as well, gazing at Brooklyn and marvelling at the softness of the bed.

He gazed down at him, smiling slightly as he stroked the pet's back.

The pet's gaze seemed to bore into Brooklyn, sighing and purring softly in content as he felt the gentle touches.

Brooklyn laid down, smiling gently. Maybe it wasn't so bad.

He managed a smile in return, snuggling into the bed as he watched his master.

Brooklyn shut his eyes, smiling briefly for a moment as he laid in silence.

The pet watched his master with a smile, slowly drifting to sleep as well. He eventually awoke at dawn, watching Brooklyn again as he hoped for them to stay together forever.

Brooklyn was still sleeping at that time, his head pillowed on his arms.

He smiled at the sleeping man, for his master was so beautiful.

Brooklyn finally awoke after hours of waiting, stretching slightly as he yawned.

The pet sat up at that, glancing down at Brooklyn with a smile.

"You're still here," he murmured as he opened his eyes, gazing at King for a long moment.

He gave a soft cheerful cry at that, never having been taught how to speak.

Brooklyn smiled briefly at that, unable to not like the young man. He seemed so gentle. Getting up, Brooklyn stroked him lightly.

He smiled back at his master, enjoying Brooklyn's touches. Everytime Brooklyn smiled or patted him, he would feel so happy.

He finally released King, turning to head towards the kitchen, searching for something to eat.

At that, the pet got off the bed as well, following after his master into the kitchen.

Brooklyn couldn't help but sigh at that, finally grabbing some food for both himself and the pet.

He glanced at the food for a long while, staring back at Brooklyn as he watched his master eat. He finally bit at the food, chewing slightly at it.

At that he smiled, watching his pet eat as he sipped at his drink, his eyes gazing at him.

As soon as he was done, the pet eyed the wrapper for a long while, remembering that Brooklyn had thrown it away. He followed his master, tossing it away as well, moving over to stand next to Brooklyn again.

Brooklyn gave a smile and a slight nod at that. "Good boy," he murmured before he could stop himself. He shouldn't be treating this man like a pet.

The pet, on the other hand, looked absolutely delighted at that, his eyes shining with pride as he smiled back in return.

With a slight sigh Brooklyn pat his head, as he sipped at his drink quietly.

He stood on quietly with a grin on his face, happy to have received his first compliment from his new master.

Moving to sit down on the couch, Brooklyn glanced up for a quick moment, knowing his pet would be right there. He needed to teach this man to be human, then he could let him go.

True to Brooklyn's word, the pet moved over quickly to his master's side, awaiting his every command and wanting to stay close.

At that Brooklyn lightly wrapped an arm around the other's waist, letting it rest lightly there.

The pet gave a curious glance to Brooklyn's arm around his waist, innocently following the action as he placed his hand on his master's waist as well, smiling at him.

"Can you understand a word I'm saying?" Brooklyn whispered, gazing into his eyes.

He glanced back at that, the curiosity and confusion apparent in his eyes even as he continued to smile.

"Just as I thought," he murmured, gazing at King.

The pet merely gave a soft sigh as he kept his gaze on his master, oblivious to what Brooklyn was planning for him.

The first thing he would have to do was get this man some decent clothes, after he gave Ming Ming a piece of his mind of course.

The pet reached down, grasping at the corner of Brooklyn's jacket again. He was happy with his new master and had no intention of going anywhere else.

"Let's go out," Brooklyn said as he gazed down at the pet.

"Ow?" he attempted to repeat in a soft smooth voice after his master, failing quite miserably with his lack of knowledge on pronunciation as he followed his master out.

"Out," Brooklyn repeated, sounding it out slow for him.

"Owch," he tried to pronounce it again, putting a little too much emphasis on the ending sound.

"Out," he repeated for the second time.

"Ouch, ouct, out..." he repeated all over, slowly cutting down on the emphasis.

"Good," Brooklyn smiled at him. "Brooklyn," he said, pointing at himself. They were making progress.

"Broo..." he struggled slightly, trying to follow his master's lip movement. "Broo..."

"Brooklyn," he repeated again for him.

"Brookiry...Brookuri...Brookurin..."

"Brooklyn."

"Brookurin," he pronounced once more, saying it at a quicker pace so that it sounded closer to the original. "Brookly...n...?"

"Yes," he gently pointed at the pet, hoping he would tell him his name.

"Hm?" he blinked at that, glancing down for a moment. The people at the Pet shop had no name for him.

Brooklyn sighed slightly at that. "Let's go."

"O," he repeated happily, following his master on a happier note as he slowly discovered the joys of speaking.

"Go," he told him.

"O...no...go," he grinned at that, amused by the range of pronunciations there were.

He nodded at that, handing over a pair of shoes as he slid his own on.

Once more, the pet relied on his master, watching him and slowly learning how to wear shoes.

He stepped out after his master, walking after him as he glanced around, having never seen the world outside Brooklyn's house or the Pet shop before.

Brooklyn walked in silence. The first place they would have to stop is to see Ming Ming so he could give her a piece of his mind.

He followed on quietly, glancing around at the other people with their pets, the park and the huge buildings. The outside world looked intimidating.

Brooklyn sighed as he headed towards the pent house district.

Thumbing through a magazine and lazing on her couch, Ming Ming was wondering how Brooklyn was faring with one of the pets he had hated so much. She gave a soft giggle, blissfully unaware of Brooklyn's impending arrival.

Raising an eyebrow at that, Ming Ming stepped towards the door, hoping against hope that it wasn't who she thought it was. She sighed as she finally opened the door and stared at Brooklyn, grinning as she realised that the pet had tagged along with him. "How was it?"

"You are dead," he hissed. "You know how much I despiese the act of turning people into mindless pets."

Ming Ming gave a loud laugh at that, "Looking at that second-grade breed shining so marvelously after coming under your care, you must be quite the master."

He narrowed his eyes at that. "I'm teaching him to be human."

"Why? Because you can't share your house with a pet?"

"But it's helpless," Ming Ming shrugged, "You can teach it everything, but it won't be able to survive by itself."

"It's a human being, I will not allow you to refer to him such as that."

"Suit yourself," Ming Ming laughed with a nonchalant shrug. "Let's see how patient you can stay with something like it."

Brooklyn studied her. "In two months time he will be as human as you or I, you have my word."

"And then what? Are you going to abandon him?"

"Fine then," Ming Ming shrugged as she turned to close the door, "Go on your own way. And perhaps you should consider naming your pet."

Brooklyn scowled at that. "You'll pay for this."

Ming Ming merely gave a grin at that, closing the door in Brooklyn's face.
The pet gazed over at his master, wondering why Brooklyn had sounded so aggressive.

Brooklyn sighed at that. "Let's go," he finally said. He would have to think of a name for this man.

"Go," the pet repeated with a smile, though his pronunciation still needed a bit more work, as he walked after his master.

Brooklyn walked in silence, heading down the street to the business district. He needed to find clothes for him.

He glanced around at his surroundings, clutching tightly to Brooklyn's jacket at the increased and unfamiliar noises. He didn't like noise.

Brooklyn reached down, taking his hand at that. "We need to give you a name."

"Nei...mm?" he attempted to repeat again, glancing down at their joined hands for a while.

"Yes, a name," he gazed ahead, moving towards one of the clothing stores.

"Naym, name, name," the pet followed his master's gaze towards the clothing store.

Brooklyn couldn't help but smile at that as he gazed down at him, finally pulling him towards the store.

The pet raised an eyebrow, feeling his master pulling and directing him towards the huge and intimidating store, "Broo...kilyn...?"

"It's alright," he murmured. "We're just going to get you some clothes.

He gave a slight frown at that for a moment, but nodded nonetheless as he followed his master, believing that Brooklyn would not lead him to danger.

Brooklyn directed him inside, glancing at the clothes, trying to find something for him.

He glanced around as well, not able to find something that he liked. To tell the truth, he couldn't really see the point in wearing clothes, but he would do it to make his master proud of him.

Brooklyn sighed, finally picking out a few things before handing them to King.

He gazed at the clothes in his arms, looking through them before 2 of the jackets caught his interest. He stared back at his master next, passing the 2 jackets to him.

He nodded at that, taking the jackets. "Do you see anything else you like?"

His eyes flickered around again, making his way and picking out some pairs of black pants.

Brooklyn nodded in return before picking out some boxers for him and paying for the clothes.

The pet stayed close to his master the entire time, fearful that if he strayed too far, he might get separated from Brooklyn.

After paying he headed back outside, moving back towards the apartment. They were done for the day.

"Name," the pet uttered softly and suddenly, recalling the newest word he had learnt earlier.

"What's your name," Brooklyn said pointing at him.

"Name..." he bowed his head low, shaking it again. He had no name.

Brooklyn smiled slightly. "What do you want your name to be?"

"Name...mmm..."

"Well?"

The pet gave a sigh as he shook his head. After all, his vocabulary was too limited to even think of his own name.

Brooklyn smiled at that. "How about King?"

"Kin?" he raised an eyebrow at that. "Kin."

"King," he repeated for him.

"Kin, Kingu, King..." King smiled widely at that, seeming to like his new name.

He smiled at that, taking King's hand as he led him into the apartmen. They were indeed making progress.

King smiled as he grasped back at Brooklyn's hand, stepping into the apartment with his master. They quickly gained ground over the next two months, with King finally learning how to speak properly and act like any normal human.

Brooklyn knew it was time, though as the days passed on his heart ached. He didn't want to let King go but he knew he had to. It would be the best for the both of them.

Despite having learnt everything there was, King chose to behave as a human pet instead, always obeying his master's orders and rarely speaking.

"King," Brooklyn said as he glanced at King. "We're going out."

"Yes, King nodded with a smile, believing this trip to be a normal one as he turned to follow his master out.

Brooklyn gazed down, his heart continuing to ache, knowing King would leave him today. Did he love him? It couldn't be, even though he wanted the man to stay with him.

He reached out, gently grasping his master's jacket as a sort of habit, quietly and happily walking behind Brooklyn.

Brooklyn just smiled, gazing at him as he stepped outside, leaving the apartment. Finally getting to a place that he knew was unknown to King he slipped money in his pocket. "Stay," he told him.

King nodded eagerly at that, standing at that spot as he gazed at Brooklyn happily, wondering if Brooklyn was heading for somewhere else first.

Brooklyn turned around and left, hoping King would obey him for at least long enough for him to get away.

King's smile died away gradually, upset that he had to stay away from Brooklyn. But to make his master proud of him, he would do it. He would stay until Brooklyn went back for him.
